Floods of 2008

Wow! Matt and I left the office today to head down by the river to take some shots of the flooding. Something hit me while we were down there. Take a look at some of these shots...

There were massive logs and debris piled along some of the bridges along the river downtown.

Here's the thing that hit me. There were a number of homeless camps along the river. If you look in the background of this picture you will see a tent in the trees. That's from the homeless camp. There are no news reports about the homeless being displaced because of the flooding but they are. They are hurting badly because of this. We need to be praying and looking for ways to help out.

The water levels are so high that it won't take much for there to be some really significant flooding. If that happens we will need to be mobilizing to help out in whatever way we can. Many homes could potentially be destroyed and we should be ready to help as a church.

Down at Sec Taylor Stadium the water is inching closer and closer.

They have a lot of sandbags up all around the stadium in readiness.

By the looks of things here, there won't be a ball game on Friday night, because you can't get into the parking lot, unless you have a monster truck.

All in all I think we need to be praying for our city, and our community. We need to be ready to be used by God to help serve our community because of our love for Jesus.
